The South Burnett Regional Council Mayor\u2019s first Charity Golf Day for the year attracted 72 players and raised more than $8500 for charity.<\/p>\n

All proceeds from the fundraiser, which was held at the Murgon Golf Club on September 11, will be donated to the Mayor\u2019s Community Benefit Fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a great day out, and was wonderful to see so many businesses and residents supporting such a worthy cause,\u201d Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Mayor\u2019s Community Benefit Fund targets organisations that often miss out on other funding, and it benefits people across the South Burnett. We couldn\u2019t help them without the support of our sponsors and the people who nominated to play golf on the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Special guest, LGAQ ambassador and media personality Heather Foord, was a hit as she assisted “pink sheriff” Cr Kathy Duff in their stylishly-decked out buggy.<\/p>\n

The pair patrolled the course, handing out “fines” during the day for unruly behaviour and poor fashion choices (which, of course included not wearing pink).<\/p>\n

The 24 teams competed for a host of prizes donated by local businesses.<\/p>\n

The winning team, consisting of Cameron Donohue, Eleanor Kratzmann and Darryl Jacobs, who played for Graham House Community Centre, each won a 10-inch tablet.<\/p>\n

The hotly contested hole-in-one event, sponsored by Huston Nissan Murgon, failed to go off.<\/p>\n

The closest player to winning the Nissan Micra was Tony Jenkins, who got within 2.08m on the eighth hole.<\/p>\n

The golf day\u2019s main sponsor, Wessel Petroleum\u2019s newly extended BP Murgon Roadhouse, was officially opened by Mayor Kratzmann earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

The next Mayor\u2019s Charity Golf Day will be held in Kingaroy on November 20.<\/p>\n
