September 16, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n

Heavy machinery is starting to roll into Butwell Park – behind Kingaroy Airport – for this weekend’s massive “Vintage Iron Rally” organised by the Kingaroy & District Vintage Machinery Club.<\/p>\n

This is the third year the machinery rally has been held in Kingaroy (after shifting from Kumbia) and it looks likely to be the biggest yet with exhibits already starting to be delivered to the display area.<\/p>\n

Club volunteers have been working hard on preparing the grounds and visitors will notice many changes from last year.<\/p>\n

A new dedicated area has been built for the working stationery engines and heritage chainsaw displays which will improve safety while still allowing people to get up close to the action.<\/p>\n

The main entrance to Butwell Park in Geoff Raph Drive has also been landscaped and now features a range of historic pieces of “old iron” to welcome visitors.<\/p>\n

Highlights of the two-day rally will include tractor pulling in the special arena, ploughing and corn threshing demonstrations,\u00a0 and a big display of vintage tractors, trucks and cars.<\/p>\n

There’ll even be some pre-vintage iron, ie. horse-drawn wagons and heavy horses, as well as market stalls and mini steam locomotive rides.<\/p>\n

The McNae family, from the Gold Coast, will be bringing along a range of equipment from their family collection.<\/p>\n

Always popular is the grand parade of exhibits – scheduled for 10:00am and 2:00pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The “featured” marques for this year’s rally are Caterpillar (celebrating 90 years), GM-H cars and IHC engines.<\/p>\n

Free entry and camping is available for exhibitors, while entry for the general public is $10 (under 14s free).<\/p>\n
