September 14, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a planned burn in Benarkin State Forest on Tuesday (September 15) – weather permitting – as part of the annual hazard reduction\/conservation management program.<\/p>\n

As a result, smoke may be seen on the D\u2019Aguilar Highway in the Benarkin area. <\/p>\n

Traffic control will be in place along the highway between Benarkin and Old Esk Road.<\/p>\n

Delays can be expected.<\/p>\n

The aim of this burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burned and unburned areas.<\/p>\n

This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.<\/p>\n
