{"id":120266,"date":"2015-09-12T00:10:19","date_gmt":"2015-09-11T14:10:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=120266"},"modified":"2020-11-10T19:29:11","modified_gmt":"2020-11-10T09:29:11","slug":"more-than-100-coming-for-duathlon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2015\/09\/12\/more-than-100-coming-for-duathlon\/","title":{"rendered":"More Than 100 Coming For Duathlon"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_120274\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-120274\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/20150912-randr1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-120274\" title=\"20150912 R&amp;R Duathlon\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/20150912-randr1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/20150912-randr1.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/20150912-randr1-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-120274\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More than 100 runners, walkers and cyclists are expected to compete in this year&#8217;s R&amp;R Duathlon &amp; Fun Run in Blackbutt on Sunday, October 4 (Photo: G&#8217;onya Adventures)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sbconshow.com.au\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-80847\" title=\"2014sbconshow\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/2014sbconshow.gif\" alt=\"South Burnett And Cherbourg On Show\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><strong>September 12, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More than a hundred cyclists and walkers are expected to descend on the Blackbutt Rail Trail over the October long weekend for the second annual R&amp;R Duathlon &amp; Fun Run.<\/p>\n<p>The event was created last year by Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Ambassadors, a group of local volunteers who help look after the Blackbutt-Linville portion of the Rail Trail.<\/p>\n<p>They wanted to encourage more recreational use of the trail, and partnered with adventure tourism company G\u2019onya Adventures to create the R&amp;R event.<\/p>\n<p>Close to 100 keen athletes took part in the first R&amp;R Duathlon &amp; Fun Run last year, and this year organisers hope for even more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Sunday, October 4 participants will line up at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road at 7:00am to take part in one of three events:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A 30km Rail Trail Run and 30km Trail Bike Ride<\/strong> (Long Course): in the first part of this two-stage event, participants will run from Blackbutt to Moore (which is slightly downhill most of the way). Then they&#8217;ll change to their bikes at the Moore Community Hall for a return 30km bike ride. This event is open to both individuals and teams, and participants must be at least 18 years of age.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A 4km Trail Run, 18km Trail Ride and 1km Run<\/strong> (Du Course): this event runs from Blackbutt to Nukku on the run component then Blackbutt down to Fettler\u2019s Rest and return for the ride component, then a 1km run around the Blackbutt Showgrounds to finish off, which should take between 1.5 to 4 hours to complete. This event is for individuals or teams of any ability level, and components can be split (eg: one team member does the running component, another does the cycling component). Participants must be at least 14 years of age.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>An 8km Fun Run<\/strong>: This is an individual event that will take place between Blackbutt and Nukku Station.
