Police forensic officers have been called in to determine the cause of a fire which badly damaged a shed in River Road, Kingaroy, in the early hours of Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Police and firefighters were called to Kingaroy Scrap Metal Recycling at 4:22am after reports that flames were coming from the side of the building.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Station Officer Bruce Groer said initially two fire appliances attended but this was quickly upgraded to five appliances – a total of 18 firefighters – because of the extent of the blaze.<\/p>\n

He said the fire was centred inside the shed, with most of the damage at the rear and in the roof.<\/p>\n

Firefighters using breathing apparatus entered the building from the front and side carrying hoses.<\/p>\n

“They were able to contain the fire within shed. A couple of areas were badly damaged but they probably saved a half to to two-thirds of the it,”\u00a0 Officer Groer said.<\/p>\n

“The boys did a really good job and limited the fire from spreading.”<\/p>\n

The fire was under control by 5:00am and there was no damage to nearby premises.<\/p>\n

It is believed the fire started inside the building.<\/p>\n
