The craftiest women from the Gympie South Burnett Division of the QCWA were in Murgon on Friday for their annual Handcraft competition.<\/p>\n

The display included a wide range of popular and unusual handcrafts covering 55 sections ranging from soft toys and dried flowers to huckaback and Swedish darning.<\/p>\n

Entries came from QCWA members from multiple clubs throughout the region.<\/p>\n

The display was officially opened by Divisional Handcraft president Elaine Ballin.<\/p>\n

Kathy Hansen, from Ballogie, put on a display of spinning using merino and alpaca wool.<\/p>\n

For at least the second year in a row, Cedar Pocket member Jeanette Westlake topped the points ladder, achieving 19 competition “firsts”.<\/p>\n

Lois Thurecht, from Elgin Vale branch, said the competition winners would now go to State Conference to be judged against Divisional winners from throughout Queensland.<\/p>\n
