The Kingaroy swimming pool is undergoing a major refurbishment so its summer re-opening has been pushed back a bit later than usual this year.<\/p>\n

South Burnett mayor Wayne Kratzmann said the pool was now scheduled to re-open on October 24.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the pool is traditionally opened in time for the start of the school holidays, our staff discovered there was major work required to make it ready for residents,\u201d Mayor Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

Council engaged a structural engineer to inspect the pool, which was subsequently stripped back to a bare shell so that the necessary work could be carried out.<\/p>\n

The fibreglass wet deck edge moulds have been replaced with concrete gutters, and the pool completely repainted with non-slip paint for the safety of swimmers.<\/p>\n

New diving blocks will be installed at the deep end.<\/p>\n

Residents who have been campaigning for more shade should be pleased that a shade sail will be installed over the grassed area and toddler pool.<\/p>\n

Donna and Joe Dangerfield will continue to manage the pool,\u00a0 and learn-to-swim classes will continue as usual.<\/p>\n
