$3 million is being spent in Blackbutt’s CBD area to fix long-standing drainage problems in the town; the work is expected to be completed early next year<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

September 4, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n

Preliminary work for a $3 million upgrade of Blackbutt’s underground stormwater system will be completed this week, and the installation stage is set to begin on Monday (September 7).<\/p>\n

The next phase of the project will include the relocation of underground services, excavation, installation of reinforced concrete pipes and gully pits, backfilling, kerb and channel, and bitumen restoration.<\/p>\n

Construction work is expected to be completed in early 2016.<\/p>\n

“Council crews plan to complete the northern side of Coulson and adjoining streets, before moving to the southern side of Coulson Street and repeating the process,” South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said today.<\/p>\n

“Residents and businesses can be assured the upgrade program has been designed to keep impacts at a minimum.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

During construction, Coulson Street will generally be two-way traffic with some road closures required on the adjoining Hart, John, Sutton, Muir, and Pine streets.<\/p>\n

At times, traffic controllers may be required to direct traffic.<\/p>\n

Any residents whose private access will be temporarily disturbed will be informed of any closures, but the work will affect only a few premises in the immediate vicinity of the construction area.<\/p>\n

Owners will be informed of closures ahead of time wherever possible.<\/p>\n

“Council appreciates the patience of business owners and residents, but any short-term disruption will result in a much safer system for Blackbutt, particularly during periods of heavy rain and storms,” Mayor Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

Residents or business owners who have concerns during the construction period should contact the on-site supervisor, or the Council’s Customer Service on (07) 4189-9100.<\/p>\n

Council is scheduled to begin roadworks on Minmore Road, Wattle Grove, on Monday (September 7).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project will include crest widening and bitumen sealing a 265m section, west of Wattle Grove Road intersection.<\/p>\n

It will include clearing, drainage, gravel pavement, bitumen sealing, line marking and signage.<\/p>\n

It is expected the work will take approximately four weeks, weather permitting.<\/p>\n

During this time a section of Minmore Road will be controlled by traffic lights during work hours, and reopened to two-way traffic after hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
