Work on the replacement of the Hansens Gully Bridge in Mondure will begin this month.<\/p>\n

South Burnett mayor Wayne Kratzmann said contractor Construction Project Management had been engaged to start the $750,000 bridge replacement project on September 16.<\/p>\n

“The work will mean residents will have a bridge that will be able to carry heavier road limits than in recent times, and be serviceable well into the future,” Mayor Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

Council first imposed a 35 tonne load limit on Hansens Gully Bridge in 2013 after a routine inspection disclosed deterioration in the bridge’s timber structure.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was further reduced to a 10 tonne load limit in August 2014 because of deterioration and damage to the bridge’s timber decking planks, then raised to 35 tonnes again after repairs were carried out. <\/p>\n

The current project includes the removal of the existing structure, construction of the new bridge, roadworks, signage, and line marking. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s expected the work will take approximately 28 weeks, weather permitting.<\/p>\n

During construction, Mondure Road will be closed to all traffic with alternate routes available and signage installed to assist with the detour.<\/p>\n
