Kingaroy Art Gallery’s latest exhibition – a double showing of landscapes and women – will be open for viewing from Tuesday (September 1) at the gallery in Haly Street.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, “You Will Never Understand”, features a series of landscapes and charcoals by Brisbane artist Noel Miller.<\/p>\n

It is a reflection of a line in the iconic poem “My County” by Dorothea Mackellar:<\/p>\n

An opal-hearted country,<\/em>
\nA wilful, lavish land –<\/em>
\nAll you who have not loved her,<\/em>
\nYou will not understand –<\/em>
\nThough earth holds many splendours,<\/em>
\nWherever I may die,<\/em>
\nI know to what brown country<\/em>
\nMy homing thoughts will fly.<\/em><\/p>\n

Miller is taking over Gallery One and Gallery Three plus the corridor for his exhibition of desert and Antarctic landscapes, and urbane women.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will run from September 1 to October.<\/p>\n

The official opening night is Friday, September 11, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Gallery.<\/p>\n

Organisers say this is the first time the artist has allowed his mixed media landscapes and his charcoal and pastel collages to be hung in the same exhibition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
