Tragedy has struck well-known country jockey Billie-Rose Derbyshire.<\/p>\n

Billie-Rose, who is a familiar sight on South Burnett race tracks, put on a brave face when she was racing at Kilcoy on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Few people at the track realised her partner, Adrian Robertson, 24, had been killed in a single-vehicle accident near Kilkivan just hours earlier.<\/p>\n

The crash occurred on the Wide Bay Highway at Oakview, about 400m west of the Schollick Road intersection.<\/p>\n

Police believe the vehicle was travelling towards Kilkivan when it left the road and hit a tree.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were notified about 3:00am.<\/p>\n

Adrian died at the scene.<\/p>\n

A 23-year-old woman – whose name has not been released – was taken to Gympie Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

Billie-Rose had four rides booked at Kilcoy, and she finished with a 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
