Imminent strike action in a garment sweatshop is the unlikely subject of the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society’s latest production, which opens on Friday in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

“The Pajama Game” (yes, it was written by an American) opens with the workers ready to strike to get an extra 7\u00bd cents an hour.<\/p>\n

An unlikely romance blossoms between Sid (the new factory superintendent) and Babe (the leader of the union committee).<\/p>\n

Owen Carnell (Sid) and Katie Campbell (Babe) are part of a cast of 18, many of whom have been practising their roles since Easter.<\/p>\n

Music is provided by Marion Otto on piano.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for concessions or $15 for students and can be obtained from Office Central at 163 Haly Street, Kingaroy, or booked online<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

There will be six performances of the show at the Kingaroy Town Hall on August 21, 22, 23, 28 and 29.<\/p>\n

Evening performances on August 21, 22, 28 and 29 will begin at 7:30pm; and matinee performances on August 23 and 29 at 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

Doors will open about 30 minutes before each performance, which lasts around two hours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
