Kingaroy’s Apex Club isn’t meeting any more but that hasn’t stopped a revival this year of its popular high school debating competition.<\/p>\n

A group of “old” Apexians organised a series of debates for local high school students over recent weeks.<\/p>\n

The finals were held at Kingaroy State High School last Thursday night.<\/p>\n

A team from Nanango State High School won the Senior Debate, successfully arguing “That feminism is irrelevant to young women today”.<\/p>\n

In the junior competition, Kingaroy State High School Team 2 won, arguing “That all secondary schools should have adventure playgrounds”.<\/p>\n

The two winning teams will now head off to Gympie on August 23 to compete in the Apex Area Finals.<\/p>\n

At Gympie, the Juniors will be affirming “That Australian tourists should boycott Bali” while Seniors will be opposing “That we should ban organic farming practices”.<\/p>\n

The winning teams from these debates will then compete at the State Final which will be held on Sunday, September 6, at a venue to be announced.<\/p>\n
