The 2016 RIRDC Rural Women\u2019s Award is now open to applications.<\/p>\n

The Rural Industries R&D Corporation award aims to help boost women\u2019s contributions to primary industries and rural communities by providing financial assistance, mentoring, resources and support to its State and Territory winners.<\/p>\n

It is open to all women involved in primary industries, who are encouraged to enter themselves or to nominate someone with a commitment and desire to making a real difference to their industry and community.<\/p>\n

State and Territory winners receive $10,000 to implement their Award idea and will have the opportunity to participate in leadership development opportunities, including the Company Directors Course run by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.<\/p>\n

A national winner and runner-up will be selected from the State winners with a further $10,000 awarded to the winner and $5000 to the runner-up to support their professional development and contribution to primary industries.<\/p>\n

2015 RIRDC Rural Women\u2019s Award winner Pip Job said the Award has opened many doors for her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage rural women who have a great idea that will benefit their community or industry to nominate for the Award \u2013 it\u2019s a fantastic opportunity to expand your leadership skills, develop your networks and make a real difference to rural Australia through your chosen project,\u201d Pip said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe award has introduced me to a nationwide network of hard-working and determined women; all working to create a better future for the industries in which they work and the communities they live in.\u201d<\/p>\n

RIRDC Managing Director Craig Burns the award also assisted Australia\u2019s rural industries and communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe determined and forward-thinking women who are supported through the award play a key role in helping maintain or develop strong, vibrant and sustainable communities and rural industries,\u201d Mr Burns said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe award has a proud history of identifying and assisting Australia\u2019s future rural leaders, and the Award\u2019s impressive alumni is a testament to its success.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe award provides Australia\u2019s rural women not only with recognition of their tremendous contribution to rural Australia, but it also builds strong and close networks and facilitates personal development opportunities for those that take part.\u201d<\/p>\n
