Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss says four South Burnett schools in his electorate have signed up to be a part of the Federal Government’s new\u00a0 “Sporting Schools” initiative.<\/p>\n

The schools are Goomeri State School P-10, Murgon State School, St Joseph’s Catholic School and Windera State School.<\/p>\n

Mr Truss said “Sporting Schools” was the “biggest change to school sport in over a decade “.<\/div>\n

\u201cSporting Schools is one of the Coalition Government\u2019s cornerstone preventative health programs aimed to improve our children\u2019s health through getting more kids involved in physical activity,\u201d Mr Truss said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing involved in this new program will expand sporting opportunities for children before, during and after school hours at Wide Bay primary schools. <\/em><\/p>\n

“Sporting Schools is designed to deliver sports in line with local schools\u2019 needs and ultimately to get the children active, engaged and having fun through sport, more often.\u201d<\/p>\n
