Over 40 of the region’s best photographers met at St Patrick’s School in Nanango on Sunday afternoon to battle for the honour of their photography club in the region’s annual Digital Interclub Competition.<\/p>\n

The competition pitted the photographers against each other in six categories: Monochrome, Creative, Nature, People, Photojournalism and “Splash Of Colour”.<\/p>\n

There was also a special medallion awarded for the image regarded as the best of the show.<\/p>\n

This year, judging was carried out by Brisbane’s Ben Stoffl PSQA EFIAP FAPS, the president of the Photographic Society of Queensland.<\/p>\n

Members of the Blackbutt, Nanango and Kingaroy clubs took part and the results were very close.<\/p>\n

In the end, the Blackbutt Camera Club took out line honours with an overall 217 points won by members, followed closely by Nanango on 191 and Kingaroy on 175.<\/p>\n

Sonia Vine, from the Nanango Camera Club, took home two awards on the day – one in the Creative category, the other in the Monochrome category for her shot of a young girl.<\/p>\n

Blackbutt Camera Club president Gerry van Moorsel took the top award in the Nature category, and fellow club member Annette Schumacher won the Photojournalism award for her electrifying shot of a rodeo rider.<\/p>\n

Howard Jack from the Nanango Camera Club took the “Splash Of Colour” category for his striking photograph of snow clearers hard at work, while Nanango Camera Club president David Bayley won the People category for his mesmerising image ‘Jessica’.<\/p>\n

David was also awarded the medallion for the champion image of the show.<\/p>\n

The region’s next major annual photography event will be the Cliff Krebbs Memorial South Burnett Interclub Photography Competition, which is for photographic prints.<\/p>\n

Blackbutt will be the host club for this year’s competition, which will be held in November.<\/p>\n
