Dalby Swans were determined to make up for the loss against the South Burnett a fortnight ago when the two AFL teams met again on Saturday, this time on Dalby’s home ground.<\/p>\n

In Round 11, the Saints defeated Dalby by 48 points in Kingaroy, and led at every change.<\/p>\n

This time around, it was a much closer and only a determined effort in the last quarter brought the points home for the South Burnett to keep their undefeated status this season intact.<\/p>\n

The Swans were coming off a one-point loss to Chinchilla last weekend while the Saints had a bye.<\/p>\n

At the end of the first quarter, Dalby had a comfortable lead 3.3 (21) to 1.2 (8).<\/p>\n

At half-time, Saints had sliced the margin but were still behind 4.5 (29) to 3.4 (22).<\/p>\n

By the end of third-quarter the ladder leaders were level-pegging with eight goals apiece after a tough grind. The Swans were just a feather ahead 8.6 (54) to 8.4 (52).<\/p>\n

But the South Burnett side put the pedal down in the last quarter, kicking four goals to one and taking the lead at the important part of the game.<\/p>\n

The final margin was three goals, 12.9 (81) to 9.9 (63).<\/p>\n

South Burnett goals were kicked by Ty Snow (6), Carl Stevenson (3), Bryce Commerford (2) and Brad Pressnell.<\/p>\n

In U16s, Dalby proved too strong, coming out on top 14.15 (99) to 4.8 (32).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saints’ goals were kicked by Keegan Wright (2), Matt Patroni and Shaun Pukallus.<\/p>\n

The Saints women were also given a tough time on the road:\u00a0 Swans 33.17 (215) to 2.0 (12).\u00a0 South Burnett goals were by Kayla Smith and Marika Burrows.<\/p>\n

This weekend is the South Burnett Saints\u2019 last home game.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Games will start at 11:00am on Sunday (August 2) at Lyle Vidler Oval on the “Heritage Day” with the U16s,\u00a0 followed by the men\u2019s game at 12:40pm.<\/p>\n

The teams will be playing in a new \u201cspecial edition\u201d heritage tricolor strip to recognise the former Kingaroy Bulldogs and Jets.<\/p>\n
