Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington says she has spoken to the State Health Minister Cameron Dick in regards to the impending closure of the South Burnett Private Hospital and the desperate need for a new Public Hospital in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said that following the release of Labor\u2019s Budget last week, she talked directly with Minister Dick.<\/p>\n

\u201cI specifically asked why Kingaroy Hospital wasn\u2019t on the priority list for replacement and I also queried Minister Dick if he was aware of the closure of the South Burnett Private Hospital,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMinister Dick explained that there were a lot of regional hospitals in need of replacement, which is disappointing, because under the LNP Government, Kingaroy was at the top of the priority list.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe also explained that he was aware of the closure of the South Burnett Private Hospital but as this was a commercial decision, it was not possible for the State Government to intervene.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI am glad to sign the \u2018Save our Hospital\u2019 petition. While I cannot change Pulse Health\u2019s decision, I will continue to support the need to retain the Private Hospital wherever possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy main goal has always been to improve health services in the South Burnett, particularly at the Kingaroy Public Hospital, but it was always with the intention of continuing to work with the private health sector in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Darling Downs Hospital and Health Board Chairman Mike Horan has publicly stated that their priority is for a new public hospital. This is a priority that I also share and I will continue to advocate for a brand new hospital for the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease be assured that I will continue to fight for our health services and do as much as I can to support our region.\u201d<\/p>\n
