Cherbourg Aboriginal Council has donated two vital medical kits to RACQ CareFlight Rescue to help save lives in the region.<\/p>\n

The $2500 donation will allow CareFlight to purchase a lifesaving Cardiac Kit and Trauma Kit.<\/p>\n

CareFlight spokesperson Angela Miles said the CareFlight team wanted to recognise the vital support from Cherbourg Council.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur rescue helicopters flew 30 missions to Cherbourg this past financial year,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Cardiac Kit and Trauma Kit purchased by the Council will equip our crews with the best possible tools to save more lives in the region.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cardiac Kit contains seven lifesaving pieces of equipment including Metalyse – a drug to treat heart attacks by dissolving clots – which costs $1250 per patient.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most common medical airlift is to treat and transport patients suffering cardiac conditions so the cardiac kit is much needed,\u201d Angela said.<\/p>\n

The Trauma Kit contains 12 pieces of equipment used to treat a wide range of trauma-related injuries, most commonly as a result of motor vehicle accidents.<\/p>\n

\u201cAround one in 10 of all missions is to provide critical care at the scene of serious motor vehicle accidents where this trauma kit will be vital,\u201d Angela said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a not-for-profit organisation, CareFlight remains reliant on a small army of donors and the generosity of councils like Cherbourg to help fund vital purchases like these lifesaving kits.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t thank the Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council enough for its generosity. This donation really will save lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
