July 14, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\nPolice have charged a 24-year-old Blackbutt man with a string of offences after he allegedly threw an axe at a police officer last night when they were trying to arrest him.<\/p>\n
The man also allegedly threatened two other officers.<\/p>\n
However, a police spokesman said the man was taken into custody without incident after one officer drew his pistol and another his taser.<\/p>\n
Police were trying to locate a man in Toogoolawah about 9:20pm after reports of a possible assault and an animal cruelty incident.<\/strong><\/p>\nThey arrived at Cressbrook Street to find the man armed with an axe and a knife.<\/p>\n
A police spokesman said the officers directed the man to put the weapons down. <\/p>\n
It will be alleged the man pointed the axe at two male Senior Constables and threatened to harm them. He then allegedly threatened a female Senior Constable before throwing the axe at her.<\/p>\n
The officers were not physically injured.<\/p>\n
The man has been charged with three counts of serious assault police, one count of assaulting police whilst armed, two counts of going armed to cause fear, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor, and one count of injuring animals.<\/p>\n
