The South Burnett Saints – undefeated in 2015 – now have clear air at the top of the AFL 2nd Division ladder after downing the Dalby Swans on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Until this weekend, the two sides had been sharing the top spot, although South Burnett was ahead on for and against.<\/p>\n

The match-up between the two top sides was eagerly awaited, and the size of the crowd at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy reflected the importance of the game.<\/p>\n

But Saints’ fans need not have worried with veterans Ty Snow – still recovering from his pre-season shoulder injury – kicking eight goals, one more than his total against Highfields in the last round.<\/p>\n

Adam Bowater also sliced through the Dalby defenders with five goals.<\/p>\n

The Saints began strongly, taking a 21 point lead at the first change. But the Swans fought back in the second quarter, securing three goals and narrowing the South Burnett margin, 8.6 (54) to 6.5 (41).<\/p>\n

But after half-time, the Saints again dominated, kicking six goals to Dalby’s one. The sides were more evenly matched in the last with three goals apiece, but by then the Saints had done the damage.<\/p>\n

The final score was 17.15 (117) to 10.9 (69).<\/p>\n

South Burnett goals were kicked by Ty Snow (8), Adam Bowater (5), Nicholas Krauksts, Braeden Snow, Adam Branch and Brad Pressnell.<\/p>\n

Dalby will have their chance at revenge when the two sides meet again in Round 13 on Saturday, July 25, in Dalby.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The news wasn’t so good for the Saints’ women’s team. They’re new to the competition and many of the players are also new to the game …<\/strong><\/p>\n

Competition leaders Dalby kept the Saints scoreless\u00a0 on Saturday, but the local women kept trying until the end.<\/p>\n

The Swans’ final score was 22.18 (150).<\/p>\n

Because of school holiday commitments, Dalby was forced to forfeit their U16 game against the South Burnett.<\/p>\n
