The competition comprised \u00a0five 18-end games with the winners being determined by the amount of games won and the number of ends won in each \u00a0game.<\/p>\n<p>The weather was forecast to be extremely cold. On Saturday a westerly wind made playing conditions bleak so keeping \u00a0warm was a priority.<\/p>\n<p>After Day 1, five teams were still undefeated and had three wins.<\/p>\n<p>With the threat of even colder weather on Sunday, it was a pleasant surprise to see clear skies although the winds were bitterly cold and playing conditions were difficult.<\/p>\n<p>After Day 2, only two teams remained undefeated and a countback on ends won was required. Minor places were also close.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1st &#8211; Toowoomba. 5 Wins. 54 1\/2 ends. They took the major prizes in the two rounds.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1st &#8211; Rob Douglass Glenda and George Wolski 40 (on a countback)<\/li>\n<li>2nd &#8211; Helene Johnson, Kev and Bev Profke 40<\/li>\n<li>3rd &#8211;\u00a0 John and Jenny Moore and Margaret Willoughby 38<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other scores:\u00a0 Terri Silcox, Lorri Holmes, Kerry Knowles 27; Sue Tucker, Trevor Ward, Lou Saunders 27; John Beattie, Alison Anderson, Yvonne Schultz 26; Leo Robinson, Nev Lawrence, Wayne Emms 26;\u00a0 Henry Bliesner, Ken Stieger, John O&#8217;Connell 22.<\/p>\n<p>The Ladies championships calendar is nearing completion.<\/p>\n<p>The second semi-final of the Ladies triples was played on Wednesday: Helene Johnson, Bev Profke, Di Currell def Alison Anderson, Yvonne Schultz and Eunice Smith 34-16. This was a much tighter game than the score indicates. Alison&#8217;s team won 11 ends to 10. with Helene&#8217;s team getting bigger scores.<\/p>\n<p>Helene&#8217;s team will now play Ivy Wrembeck, Lorri Holmes\u00a0 and Robyn Diercke in the final at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>A interesting social game on Wednesday: John Beattie, Wayne Emms, Elle McPherson def Leo Robinson, Lola Harper and\u00a0 Arthur Smith 17-16.<\/p>\n<p>Two teams from Yarraman travelled to Tansey for their Fiesta Carnival on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>There were smiles on the faces of the team in one car when they came home winners. The team comprised Helene Johnson, Daphne Stewart, Di Currell and Bev Profke. They scored three wins with a total of 28 points. Teams came from as far away as Hamilton, Wellington Point, Taroom, Beachmere and Yarraman.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the Mixed Carnival was Hamilton\u2019s team: Barry Gough, Sean Kelly, Col Kennedy and Betty Goodwin.<\/p>\n<p>In second place were Woodford: John Jenkinson, Sharon Elliott, Ken Hallett and Graham Hoy.<\/p>\n<p>Yarraman was third with Brian Kunde, Merv Fitch, Karen King and John Moore.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1st round: John Glanville, Graham Chant, Anita Chant and Tracey Evans<\/li>\n<li>2nd round: Lester Bechly, Noel Lanes, Norm Harris and Margaret McAdam<\/li>\n<li>3rd round: Roz Graham, Annette Ruston, Graham Little and Bob Graham<\/li>\n<li>4th round: Malcolm McLeod, Wayne Thatcher, Bronwyn Green and Danny Holligan<\/li>\n<li>5th\u00a0 round: Roy Howard, Clayton Foster, Joe and Faye Aquilina<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This Carnival was sponsored solely by the work of the Ladies of the Kilcoy Bowls Club\u00a0 running the Dining Room at the Kilcoy Show in April (with both women and men helping).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other Kilcoy notes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ladies meeting will be on July 14 after Bowls.
