Former Nanango mayor Reg McCallum … guest speaker on Friday at Nukku Nook<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Former Nanango mayor Reg McCallum will be the guest speaker at Friday’s “Blackbutt History Morning” at Nukku Nook.<\/p>\n

The morning, organised by the Blackbutt and District Tourism and Heritage Association, is an opportunity to hear Reg talk about the history of Blackbutt, and his journey as one of Australia’s longest-serving mayors.<\/p>\n

Reg’s great-uncle Alex had the mail coach run from Linville to Nanango, and his grandfather, Pat, was the longest-serving postman in Queensland, delivering to Nanango and beyond by horse.<\/p>\n

The history morning will get underway at 9:30am on Friday (July 10) at the association’s headquarters, Nukku Nook, which is located at the Blackbutt head of the rail trail.<\/p>\n

Tony Foran will be singing at the launch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Blackbutt and District Tourism and Heritage Association is also inviting the public to attend the public launch of two local documentaries by film-maker Joel Thomas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joel has made “A Journey Along The Upper Brisbane Valley Rail Trail” and “Taromeo Cemetery Reconstruction”.<\/p>\n

The launch will be held from 6:00pm on Saturday, July 18, at Blackbutt Hall.<\/p>\n

Cost to attend is $15 which includes a free glass of wine and hot food.<\/p>\n

There will also be live entertainment by Brisbane singer-songwriter Tony Foran who will be singing songs about the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.<\/p>\n
