Forensic Police from Brisbane are investigating the sudden death of a 22-year-old man in Gladys Street, Kingaroy, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy resident is believed to have been involved in an altercation with a group of young people before being struck by a reversing Nissan Patrol 4WD, causing severe head injuries.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-Charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the incident occurred about 2:00am, near the intersection of Gladys Street and Baron Street.<\/p>\n

Police believe two groups of male youths met earlier in Baron Street where an altercation occurred.<\/p>\n

Both groups knew each other and there had allegedly been an ongoing dispute between them, with previous incidents having occurred.<\/p>\n

Several of the youths were in the Patrol wagon, while others were on foot.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said at some stage, one of the occupants of the Patrol ended up outside it, and then was struck by the vehicle as it reversed.<\/p>\n

A crime scene was declared near the corner of Baron and Gladys streets to allow police investigations to continue.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said police had spoken to the youths involved in the incident, including the driver of the 4WD, as well as local residents who had been awoken by the disturbance.<\/p>\n

The 2007 model Nissan Patrol has been seized by police for forensic investigations.<\/p>\n

The death will be reported to the Coroner, and an autopsy is expected to be carried out.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 2:10pm: Kingaroy Police expect to have the street re-opened soon.<\/strong><\/p>\n
