The business premises of Mortimer & Co accountants were broken into in Mary Street, Kingaroy, on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the offender or offenders used a wheelie bin to climb up to a window.<\/p>\n

They then jemmied it open and climbed inside.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said an office area was searched and a small amount of money taken.<\/p>\n

A security alarm was triggered about 9:00pm.<\/p>\n

Forensic officers have examined the premises and investigations are continuing.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information is asked to ring Kingaroy Police on (07) 4160-4900 or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 1800-333-000.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h3>\n

South Burnett residents have been asked to keep an eye out for a white HiLux ute stolen from St Mary’s Catholic College in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police believe the vehicle was stolen from a workshop shed during the first weekend of the school holidays (June 27-28).<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said it appeared someone had broken into the shed, removed a spare set of keys left in a drawer, unlocked the roller door and drove off.<\/p>\n

A jerry can was also taken.<\/p>\n

“It was initially thought the vehicle was in the possession of a staff member but it now appears it was stolen,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

The 2003 model HiLux is registered 292-HJL. Anyone with information is asked to call Kingaroy Police or CrimeStoppers.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Kingaroy police executed a drug search warrant on a house in Alford Street, Kingaroy, on Sunday afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They allegedly located a small amount of cannabis and drug utensils.<\/p>\n

A 16-year-old youth has been dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act, and a 36-year-old man has been issued with a notice to appear in court to face a charge of possessing a dangerous drug and drug utensils.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Police and fire crews were called to a grass fire in Poinciana Avenue, Kingaroy, at 9:00pm on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said firefighters extinguished a small grass fire.<\/p>\n

Police will allege the fire was started by letting off fireworks.<\/p>\n

A 35-year-old Poinciana Avenue resident was issued with a $471 infringement notice on Sunday for “placing injurious matter on a roadway”, and given a notice to appear in court for unlawful possession of explosives.<\/p>\n

Police allegedly seized more fireworks at the man’s home. The man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on August 17.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Rural fire crews quickly controlled a small grassfire at Proston on Monday afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fire, in Susan Crescent, was reported about 1:45pm.<\/p>\n

There was no threat to properties.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Vandals have targeted signs erected by the South Burnett Regional Council at the Gordon Buchanan lookout and park on the Chinchilla-Wondai Road, three kilometres from Hivesville.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cr Kathy Duff said she was disgusted that someone could deliberately bend and damage council signs.<\/p>\n
