A 22-year-old man was taken to Kingaroy Hospital with arm and other injuries on Friday night after a collision between a car and a motorbike in Fisher Street, Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred at the corner of Coral Street about 6:00pm.<\/p>\n

Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, from Kingaroy Police, said a Subaru had stopped at the stop sign in Coral Street before proceeding across Fisher Street.<\/p>\n

However, the vehicle and a motorcycle heading up Fisher Street collided.<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old female driver of the car was issued with a ticket for failing to give way at an intersection.<\/p>\n

The motorbike rider suffered non life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the RACQ today expressed serious concern over Queensland\u2019s mounting road toll, following a horror weekend on the roads.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>The State’s road toll jumped by four at the weekend, with all incidents involving motorcyclists.<\/p>\n

RACQ Executive Manager Technical and Safety Policy Steve Spalding said motorcyclists were over-represented in the road toll.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe year-to-date figures show 124 people have died on Queensland roads, that\u2019s up by more than 18 on the same time last year,\u201d Mr Spalding said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very concerning just how many of these fatalities are motorcyclists. We know around 30 of these deaths are motorbike riders or their passengers, with the number some 80 per cent higher than this time last year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Spalding said everyone must take responsibility for their actions while on the road.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether it\u2019s inattention on the part of a rider or driver, or simply riding too fast for the conditions, a motorcyclist is highly vulnerable to serious injury or worse,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Spalding said a defensive approach to riding was essential and encouraged motorcycle riders to brush up on their skills.<\/p>\n
