The South Burnett Saints are still leading the AFL Darling Downs 2nd Division ladder after a thumping win over Highfields on Sunday in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

But although they are ahead on for \/ against, they can’t seem to shake off Dalby – also unbeaten on 40 points – who demolished Coolaroo on Saturday at home.<\/p>\n

The nexus will be broken in the Saints’ next game when the two sides come up against each other on Saturday, July 11, at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy – a game that shouldn’t be missed!<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Saints continued on their winning way by downing Highfields by almost a century, largely due to Ty Snow who landed an impressive seven goals.<\/p>\n

At the end of the first quarter, the local team led 40-7; by half-time this had blown out to 64-12, much to the joy of the large crowd watching the game.<\/p>\n

The final score was South Burnett 19.14 (128), Highfields 3.13 (31).<\/p>\n

South Burnett goals came via Ty Snow (7), Brad Edwards (3), Braeden Snow (2), Jack Day (2), Adam Branch, Daniel Rogers, Brad Pressnell, Keiran Snow and Carl Stevenson.<\/p>\n

It was a different story in the U16s, where the Lions mauled the junior Saints in their match-up.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Highfields started very strongly, scoring eight goals in the first quarter, leading 51-1 at the first change.<\/p>\n

South Burnett improved as the game progressed, with Keegan Wright kicking a hat-trick for the local side.<\/p>\n

The final score was South Burnett 4.6 (30), Highfields 22.15 (147).<\/p>\n

South Burnett goals were kicked by Keegan Wright (3) and Marcus Riddell.<\/p>\n

Recent recruit Renee Irvine again starred for the Saints’ Women in their game against Goondiwindi, kicking the South Burnett’s three goals.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Saints got off to a great start, kicking two goals in the first quarter and holding the Hawks to the same. At the first break, they were just four points in arrears.<\/p>\n

The Saints also had a great last quarter, \u00a0kicking their third goal and keeping Goondiwindi scoreless.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately by this time the game had already run away from them.<\/p>\n

Goondiwindi enjoyed a very strong third quarter, scoring six goals and three behinds.<\/p>\n
