Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has called on the State Government to “step up to the plate” and outline its plan for sport and recreation funding.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said the LNP Government had committed $68 million for the popular “Get in the Game” program, but Labor was refusing to follow through with the funding.<\/p>\n

\u201cLocal clubs in the South Burnett are now in limbo because of the Labor Government\u2019s failure to ensure this funding is guaranteed for another three years,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cGet in the Game injected more than $270,000 into sporting groups across the electorate, and hundreds of local families benefitted from sporting vouchers, valued at a $150 each, to help their children join sporting groups.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo many local groups have benefitted from this funding, like the Kingaroy Netball Association to resurface the netball courts, South Burnett Little Athletics to help build their new clubhouse (and) many other clubs who were funded to purchase new equipment and hold \u2018come and try\u2019 days.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter more than four months since taking office, the Labor Government has not only refused to continue this vital funding but has not outlined a plan of its own to support our local sporting clubs.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
