A fire overnight has damaged the smokehouse at the rear of Lowrie’s Meat House at Wooroolin.<\/p>\n

Owner Des Lowrie, who only took over the former Wooroolin Butchery 12 weeks ago, came into work this morning to find a small amount of smoke coming from the building.<\/p>\n

However, he could see red through a gap in the door … so he immediately rang the fire brigade.<\/p>\n

“They did an awesome job,” he said.<\/p>\n

They quickly located the seat of the fire and extinguished it.<\/p>\n

Des believes the exhaust fan in the smokehouse may have short-circuited, but that is still to be confirmed.<\/p>\n

There was no meat being treated in the smokehouse at the time.<\/p>\n

There has also been no damage to the actual butcher’s shop which is located in a separate but attached building in front of the smokehouse.<\/p>\n

The fire was concentrated in the area between the two buildings.<\/p>\n
