It’s been a big week for basketballers in Kingaroy with the Grand Finals for three competitions being played on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.<\/p>\n

In the A Grade final – played at the KSHS Sports Auditorium on Tuesday night – Sharks caused an upset by defeating Thunder 42-36.<\/p>\n

Thunder have been almost unbeatable all season. And as they have have taken the Grand Final title for the past few years, were red hot favourites for another trophy.<\/p>\n

But Sharks went out aggressively in the first quarter, and were leading by six at the half-time break. Thunder fought back in the third quarter and were almost level-pegging throughout the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

The intensity of this last spell was demonstrated by the number of defensive fouls awarded against both sides.<\/p>\n

In the B Grade Grand Final, played earlier in the night, Basket Brawlers defeated Fire Balls 33-31 in another very close game that went right down to the full-time hooter.<\/p>\n

The Women’s Grand Final was played on Wednesday night. Haley’s Comets defeated Green Machine 32-24.<\/p>\n
