A Yarraman man has been charged with six offences after allegedly threatening to burn down the Yarraman Police Station in the early hours of Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Jamie Lee Dirago, 25, entered no plea when he appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n

He was charged with attempted arson, two counts of threatening violence at night, trespass, possessing dangerous drugs and obstructing police.<\/p>\n

Police prosecutor Pepe Gangemi told the court one of these charges could be altered at Dirago’s next court appearance.<\/p>\n

No application was made for bail, and Dirago was remanded in custody to August 17.<\/p>\n

Police will allege Dirago became angry after police arrested his girlfriend on a public nuisance offence.<\/p>\n

He then allegedly made certain threats and returned to the police station with a container of petrol; he left and was later arrested in Budgen Street.<\/p>\n

A 40-year-old Cherbourg man facing eight charges of indecent treatment of a child under 16 was refused bail when he appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Solicitor Tim Campion applied for bail, saying his client’s brother in Toowoomba had agreed to provide a place for the man to stay.<\/p>\n

However, Police Prosecutor Sgt Pepe Gangemi opposed bail, saying the proposed address was unacceptable as the man could not stay in a house which included young children as he was an unacceptable risk.<\/p>\n

Sgt Gangemi said the man was also a risk to the general community and there were no bail conditions which could be imposed which would alleviate this risk.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Simon Young agreed, saying the man had a history of serious offences against children, a history of failing to appear and a history of not complying with court orders.<\/p>\n

He refused bail and remanded him in custody to August 17.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
