Brian Jarvis from Growing The Burnett will be one of seven speakers at a free ‘Resilient, Sustainable Future’ information day being held at Kingaroy’s Town Common Hall on Saturday, June 20<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

June 14, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n

Growing The Burnett and the Burnett Mary Regional Group will be holding an information day for small acreage food producers, lifestyle dwellers and gardeners in Kingaroy on Saturday, June 20.<\/p>\n

“Resilient, Sustainable Future” will be held at the Town Common Hall in Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy between 10:00am and 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

The event will focus on sustainable farming, and will feature six different presentations.<\/p>\n

At 10:00am, Rohan Morris from Gayndah’s Gleneden Organic Farm will give a talk on Heritage Foods.<\/p>\n

He will be followed at 11:00am by Brian Jarvis from Growing The Burnett, who’ll examine the necessity of planning today to meet tomorrow’s needs.<\/p>\n

The session will then break for a half hour lunch.<\/p>\n

At 12:30pm, the Friends Of Yarraman Creek will talk about how to regenerate waterways, using their own multi-year project on the banks of Yarraman Creek alongside Errol Munt Park as an example.<\/p>\n

They’ll be followed at 1:30pm by Terry Stokes from the Centre For Growing Sustainability and Lou Hatton from Bio Organic Sustainable Solutions, who’ll discuss soil health and simple ways to improve it.<\/p>\n

At 2:30pm, the new Barambah Beekeepers Club will talk about bee-keeping for fun and profit.<\/p>\n

And at 3:00pm, Greg Taffe from Go Green Generation will talk about renewable energy, capping off his talk with the display of a new electric car.<\/p>\n

Admission to the information session is free, but if you’d like morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea a $15 meal ticket is also available.<\/p>\n
