Murgon cricketer Jared Sippel has had a strong start playing for Queensland in the 15 & Under School Sport Australia Cricket Championships being played in Darwin.<\/p>\n

Queensland’s Round 1 match was against the home team, Northern Territory.<\/p>\n

Jared, who was selected as Queensland’s vice-captain, knocked 21 runs off 23 balls on Sunday, including one four, before being caught out by NT captain Dean Fry.<\/p>\n

He later earned his revenge with the ball, trapping Fry LBW.<\/p>\n

Jared finished with the bowling figures of 1\/21 off his eight overs, including two maidens.<\/p>\n

He was also involved in a run-out, taking the wicket of NT’s No 3 batsman Tom Nixon.<\/p>\n

Queensland will now play South Australia on Monday and NSW on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The semi-finals will be played on Thursday with the Final on Friday.<\/p>\n

The U15 championships are part of Cricket Australia\u2019s new National Player Pathway initiative.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The U15 players are the first to be exposed under the new-look pathway scheme that is designed to provide talented players with a clear playing direction as they progress through the ranks of elite cricket.<\/p>\n

Cricket Australia National Talent Manager Greg Chappell is attending the titles, which feature teams from NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, ACT and NT.<\/p>\n

As part of the partnership between School Sport Australia (SSA) and Cricket Australia (CA), participant costs such as a levies, uniforms and flights will be subsidised to reduce the financial impost on players and their families.<\/p>\n

An Australian U16 team to play in the National U17 titles in October will be selected primarily from the championships.<\/p>\n

Former Queensland Bulls coach and Australian batsman Stuart Law, who was previously a batting and high performance coach at the Bupa National Cricket Centre, will mentor this U16 team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
