Work is going ahead full-steam on the construction site for Kingaroy’s new multi-million dollar police station.<\/p>\n

Contractors have demolished one of the police houses on the site, and the second will also be removed.<\/p>\n

The Scenes of Crime forensic laboratory has been relocated to the rear of the site and is currently undergoing extensions.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy police Officer-in-Charge Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said the first part of the new station building to be constructed would be the watchhouse.<\/p>\n

This will have multiple cells and there will be an undercover connection between the cells and the Kingaroy Courthouse building.<\/p>\n

Once the new watchhouse is commissioned, the current watchhouse building will be demolished.<\/p>\n

Uniformed police will relocate into the Artie Kerr Building alongside the Kingaroy CIB while the rest of the new building takes shape.<\/p>\n

Brisbane-based construction company Bryant (Qld) Pty Ltd is undertaking the $7.278 million construction job after winning the tender on March 30.<\/p>\n

Work began on the project almost immediately.<\/p>\n
