QRRRWN project facilitator Gayel Stewart-Airs wants Kingaroy women to start blogging, and will be running workshops soon to show them how (Photo: QRRRWN)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nJune 11, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Queensland Rural Regional and Remote Women\u2019s Network (QRRRWN) are offering women in Kingaroy, Goondiwindi and Charters Towers the opportunity to create blogs.<\/p>\n
They hope the blogs will reflect on, and record, the resourcefulness, resilience and regeneration that women inject into their families and communities in the face of drought.<\/p>\n
The project has been funded by the Foundation For Rural and Regional Renewal.<\/p>\n
“We learn from sharing our experiences, good and bad,” QRRRWN President Alison Mobbs said.<\/p>\n
“That is what connecting, networking and inspiring each other is all about.<\/p>\n
“I know from friends across Queensland how important women have been in keeping each other and their communities going through the tough times we’ve all suffered.<\/p>\n
“There is a huge power in reflecting on those experiences and sharing stories about both the good times and the bad.<\/p>\n
“Too often we forget that our story and our experience can benefit others.”<\/p>\n
Project facilitator Gayel Stewart-Airs said she was thrilled to be a part of the team bringing the idea to life.<\/p>\n
“We are asking women: what have you learned from living through the drought? Please think about sharing this experience so others can benefit from it,” Ms Stewart-Airs said.<\/p>\n
Ms Stewart-Airs is an experienced blogger herself, and will be holding a series of workshops to show interested women the basics of blogging.<\/strong><\/p>\n“Blogging is a terrific skill for anyone interested in building a business, working in the community or just communicating with friends and family. So we expect to see a lot of spin off benefits for participants.<\/p>\n
“This way our experiences can be shared not just in our own communities but across the state and across the country.<\/p>\n
“With the internet we can even go global.”<\/p>\n
Apart from workshops, the QRRRWN will also provide support for three bloggers to participate in the group’s Annual Conference at Biloela in September.<\/p>\n
