SBRC Economic Development Manager Phil Harding and South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann … both working to secure the future of the South Burnett Private Hospital<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

There is still no good news to report about the future of the South Burnett Private Hospital, with the June 30 deadline for the hospital’s closure drawing closer.<\/p>\n

South\u00a0 Burnett mayor Wayne Kratzmann said on Tuesday Pulse Health had refused absolutely to manage the hospital – even temporarily – after June 30.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kratzmann said a number of potential operators had been spoken to but they had been given very little time to make a decision.<\/p>\n

He said SBRC Economic Development Manager Phil Harding has been given the job of liaising with potential operators.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kratzmann said he had also had a long meeting with Queensland Health Minister Cameron Dick and had spoken on several occasions to Dr Michael Cleary, the Acting Director-General of the Department of Health.<\/p>\n

The Mayor said both men had been very helpful but the bottom line was the State Government had no interest in running a private hospital.<\/p>\n

However, he believed “red tape” would not be an issue if an operator could be confirmed in time.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kratzmann said there could also be an issue looming over the ownership of some items at the hospital.<\/p>\n

“Anything that was paid for under a grant is staying. We will be fighting that battle,” he said.<\/p>\n
