Four representative AFL games were\u00a0 played in Kingaroy on Saturday between teams representing the Darling Downs and Wide Bay.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Saints hosted the mini-carnival at Lyle Vidler Oval, and several Saints players were selected for the Darling Downs sides.<\/p>\n

The day started with a very close game in U14s.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the end of the first quarter, the Darling Downs Demons and the Wide Bay Tigers were level-pegging at 3.2 (20) .<\/p>\n

By half-time, Wide Bay had pulled ahead by four goals.<\/p>\n

However, the Demons clawed their way back after the break to be just two points behind at the end of the third term.<\/p>\n

Both teams went into the last quarter with eight goals.<\/p>\n

But after going goal-for-goal for most of the match, at the full-time whistle Wide Bay finally came out on top by just three points.<\/p>\n

Wide Bay 11.9 (75) defeated Darling Downs 11.6 (72)<\/p>\n

Junior Saint Lleyton Brown kicked one goal for the Demons.<\/p>\n

Wide Bay also had a victory in U16s, downing Darling Downs 9.11 (65) to 5.12 (42).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Both teams got off to a slow start and just two points separated them at half-time.<\/p>\n

Darling Downs pulled away in the third quarter to a healthy lead before being stopped in their tracks by the Tigers.<\/p>\n

The Wide Bay defenders kept Downs scoreless in the final term, while their attackers kicked home six goals.<\/p>\n

Darling Downs were triumphant in the Women’s game<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Darling Downs had their revenge for the earlier losses when their Women’s team took to the field.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Wide Bay women only managed two points for the match, while Darling Downs piled on 18 goals.<\/p>\n

The final score was 18.21 (129) to 0.2 (2).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saints’ Jess Langton played in the Downs team.<\/p>\n

The Demons put on a strong performance in the Senior Men’s rep game<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Wide Bay returned to the winners’ circle in the Senior men’s game, defeating Darling Downs 21.9 (135) to 12.13 (85).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Senior Saints Brad Edwards and Dylan Bowater were selected in the Demons’ team.<\/p>\n

Wide Bay had a strong start, finishing the first quarter three goals ahead.<\/p>\n

But the Demons fought back and at the mid-break had levelled the score to 50-all.<\/p>\n

However, the Tigers changed gears in the second half, putting on nine goals in the third quarter and another four in the last to bring home a convincing win.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
