The Wondai Wolves – who are rapidly turning into 2015 competition favourites – demolished an understrength Kingaroy in a freezing Friday night A Grade match played under lights in Wondai.<\/p>\n

Wondai opened the scoring when Luke Hedges converted his own try.<\/p>\n

This was followed by three more unanswered Wolves tries: to Cody Beggs, Brenton List and Elyon Brown.<\/p>\n

With the score at 18-0, the Red Ants finally hit back through Jye Hopkins who grounded the ball over the line for the first of his double for the night.<\/p>\n

Danny Alberts quickly hit back, and Luke Hedges’ conversion pushed Wondai’s lead to 24-4.<\/p>\n

In the lead-up to half-time, Jye Hopkins crossed again for Kingaroy. Sipau Ta’ufa’s kick was on target, and suddenly Kingaroy’s score was looking a little more respectable.<\/p>\n

At half-time, Wondai led 24-10.<\/p>\n

Sadly for Kingaroy supporters, the Wolves kept the Red Ants scoreless throughout the second half, although Kingaroy did not stop trying with Mick Smallwood pressuring the line at times.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy’s task wasn’t made any easier through a lack of discipline. With six minutes left on the clock, a player was sin-binned.<\/p>\n

Wondai scored four second half tries: to Brenton List, Cody Beggs, Robert Christianson and Tom McDowell.<\/p>\n

Luke Hedges kicked five conversions during the game to take the final score to 44-10.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the night the victory was reversed with Kingaroy defeating Wondai 48-4 in U14s.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kingaroy tries were scored by Jacob Brazier (3), Taylor Stead (2), Zealand Eustace, Corey Cross, Joe Steffensen-Grant and Nic Plint. Zealand Eustace and Corey Cross each kicked three goals.<\/p>\n
