Kingaroy nursing student Cassandra Noonan has won a $1000 bursary through the National Council of Women of Queensland (NCWQ).<\/p>\n

Cassy is a familiar sight on local soccer fields and in 2014 organised fundraising to allow a group of Central Queensland Uni nursing students to carry out a health camp in a Nepalese village.<\/p>\n

The NCWQ works to empower women and promote equal status for women. It is not-for-profit, non-party political and non-sectarian.<\/p>\n

in 2015, it handed out 22 bursaries, some of which were linked to specific geographic areas.<\/p>\n

Cassy was awarded the “Wayne Kratzmann Award”.<\/p>\n

Applicants had to be:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • A female resident of the South Burnett Regional Council area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Enrolled in a full-time, part-time or distance education course \u2013 either university or TAFE , to further develop their skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • \u00a0Able to demonstrate contribution to the local community, eg. through a sports group, school, church, service club, CWA etc<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • An Australian citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
