In what RSPCA staff and volunteers admit is a blatant rip-off of the State of Origin series, the “State of Adoption” challenge has once again gone out to RSPCA NSW from RSPCA Qld.<\/p>\n

The Queensland shelters are hoping to win an historic seven in a row!<\/p>\n

The goal is to re-home as many animals as possible from the start of the first State of Origin rugby league game to the end of the last.<\/p>\n

The toughly fought contest bears another resemblance to the State of Origin series with most of the adoptees having a bit of \u201cthe mongrel\u201d in them.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course it\u2019s a rip-off on the whole concept but if we\u2019re re-homing more animals then it\u2019s all worthwhile,\u201d RSPCA Qld spokesman Michael Beatty said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will start as the underdogs, if you\u2019ll pardon the pun, because Queensland has nine shelters, while NSW has 12. But Queenslanders are used to that tag and it just stirs us on.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce they\u2019ve seen the fantastic animals we have up for adoption, we know they\u2019ll find their perfect match and for us the perfect match is Queensland winning by a cat\u2019s whisker!\u201d<\/p>\n
