The Burnett Mary Regional Group will be running a free public workshop in Durong this week to discuss fire management in the southern zone of the Brigalow Belt.<\/p>\n

The Brigalow Belt (South) Fire Management Guidelines – which cover hazard reduction burns – will be discussed and an opportunity will be provided for participants to provide input and further refinement to them.<\/p>\n

The presentation will be provided by Andrew Houley, from Fire and Landscape Management.<\/p>\n

Andrew has a long association with fire in the landscape, from planning the pro-active use of fire across many parts of Queensland to bushfire suppression in a range of roles.<\/p>\n

He specialises in developing strategies, tools and plans that guide the use of fire in a particular landscape for the purposes of hazard reduction, primary production and conservation.<\/p>\n

The workshop will be held on Thursday, May 28, from 6:00pm at the Durong Bowls Club.<\/strong><\/p>\n
