South Burnett photographers enjoyed an afternoon learning invaluable tips and tricks from world-class portrait photographer John Lomas on Sunday.<\/p>\n

John, assisted by Ipswich photographer Paul Stevens, had been invited to lead the Nanango Camera Club’s annual Portrait Workshop at Tipperary Flats.<\/p>\n

About 30 keen photographers attended the Portrait Workshop – now in itssixth year – to learn how they could improve their portrait photography skills.<\/p>\n

John explained the different lighting effects that could be used, as well as how to take advantage of whatever light was available.<\/p>\n

He also showed how light could be controlled using reflectors and diffusion panels.<\/p>\n

Then photographers filled their frames with images of models Edith, Jessica and Jake who were brought along for the day so students could practice their photographic skills on live subjects.<\/p>\n

Shutters fired all afternoon and many cards were filled to overflowing.<\/p>\n

Local artist Kelly Dugdell finished the session by face painting the models to provide yet another perspective on portrait photography.<\/p>\n

The Nanango Camera Club meets at St Patrick’s School library in Alfred Street, Nanango, at 1:00pm on the third Sunday of each month.<\/p>\n
