{"id":106575,"date":"2015-05-12T21:01:43","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T11:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=106575"},"modified":"2020-12-15T14:55:39","modified_gmt":"2020-12-15T04:55:39","slug":"more-funding-for-roads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2015\/05\/12\/more-funding-for-roads\/","title":{"rendered":"More Funding For Roads"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_4723\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4723\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/warrentruss.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4723\" title=\"Warren Truss\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/warrentruss.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4723\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>May 12, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss says the Federal Government has made a major commitment to rural areas by doubling Roads To Recovery funding for local councils.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Truss made the statement this evening immediately following the release of the 2015-16 Federal Budget by Treasurer Joe Hockey.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(This) provides a substantial increase in the amount of funding that councils can access to maintain and upgrade local roads,\u201d Mr Truss said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Under the funding, in 2015-16 local councils will receive:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>South Burnett Regional Council &#8211; $2,285,323<\/li>\n<li>Gympie Regional Council &#8211; $1,880,961<\/li>\n<li>Cherbourg Aboriginal Council &#8211; $55,510<\/li>\n<li>Toowoomba Regional Council &#8211; $6,500,000 (est)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In 2014-15, local councils received:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>South Burnett Regional Council &#8211; $1,142,662<\/li>\n<li>Gympie Regional Council &#8211; $940,481<\/li>\n<li>Cherbourg Aboriginal Council &#8211; $27,755<\/li>\n<li>Toowoomba Regional Council &#8211; $3,257,744<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Money provided under the Roads to Recovery Program is not intended to replace normal council spending on road maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, local councils nominate specific projects to be funded.<\/p>\n<p>In the South Burnett, an average of three Roads To Recovery projects are undertaken each year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>External link: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.budget.gov.au\/2015-16\/content\/appropriation_bills\/html\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Federal Budget papers<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss  says the Federal Government has made a major commitment to rural areas by doubling Roads To Recovery funding for local councils.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":281675,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,3],"tags":[1131],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
