Global interest in Queensland beef is “unprecedented” according to Trade & Investment Queensland, with more than 900 international delegates registering for Beef Australia 2015 in Rockhampton – three times more than in 2012.<\/p>\n

TIQ CEO Andrew Tulloch said there had been a surge in interest Queensland\u2019s world-renowned beef sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cQueensland is known for high quality, clean and green beef, and international interest is at an all-time high,\u201d Mr Tulloch said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cInterest is particularly strong from Asia.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndependent economic modelling estimates beef sales to Japan could rise by $5.5 billion over the next 20 years as a result of the tariff reductions detailed in the Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement.”<\/p>\n

TIQ\u2019s trade and investment experts are at Beef Australia 2015\u00a0 to help domestic companies find business opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Handshakes program, which is a partnership between TIQ, Beef Australia and Austrade, is a free business-matching program designed to deliver trade outcomes for Queensland,\u201d Mr Tulloch said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll areas of the industry will be covered, including beef and live cattle exports, equipment, seeds, services and technologies and genetics exporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cHandshakes in 2012 delivered over $23.5 million worth of trade outcomes, so with triple the interest, the potential outcomes are very promising.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Queensland is Australia\u2019s leading beef producer, with about half of the national herd and a farm gate gross value of production of $3.25 billion in 2013-14.<\/p>\n
