Domino’s store manager Morgan Wilkins has been clocking up kilometres on a new electric pushbike<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

If you see Domino’s store manager Morgan Wilkins pedalling around the streets of Kingaroy – or hear him telling his young employees “on ya bike” – don’t worry, the store isn’t in trouble.<\/p>\n

In fact, it’s the exact reverse.<\/p>\n

Domino’s in Kingaroy have two Nissan Micra sedans which they use for deliveries,\u00a0and staff members will use their own vehicles, but sometimes during big rushes an order will come in from close to the store. That’s when the new electric pushbike comes in handy.<\/p>\n

Morgan took delivery of the electric bike about a month ago and since then it has clocked up several hundred kilometres, all within a short radius of the store.<\/p>\n

He admitted it wasn’t suitable for deliveries to the top of Fisher Street – even with the electric motor engaged – but it was just perfect for all the flat areas on the southside of town.<\/p>\n

Electric bikes delivering pizzas are apparently now a common sight in Sydney and Melbourne, but it’s the first time there’s been one in Kingaroy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Usually a delivery will only be one or two pizzas, but up to eight pizzas (and their hot cell bags) can fit inside the bike’s specially designed carrier.<\/p>\n

The pushbike can be pedalled like a regular bike but with the electric motor running it can also reach speeds of 25km\/h.<\/p>\n

Another bonus for Morgan is that his young staff members who don’t have a driving licence can now make deliveries, too (so long as they are aged over 16).<\/p>\n

“It’s hard at times to get people with a licence,” he said.<\/p>\n

The bike is simply plugged into a power point to recharge.<\/p>\n

And don’t even think about pinching it – it’s fitted with its own special alarm system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
