Police used stingers near Crawford to stop a stolen car on the Bunya Highway early on Sunday morning allegedly being driven by a drunken teenager.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said police would allege the 17-year-old Proston man took the vehicle late on Saturday night after an incident involving family members.<\/p>\n

Police later spotted the vehicle\u00a0 in the Hivesville area and it was later observed in Wondai.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said police tried to intercept the vehicle, but the driver simply ignored them.<\/p>\n

“There was no police pursuit,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

Police then watched as the driver headed down the Bunya Highway towards Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

“A decision was made to stop the vehicle before it made it to Kingaroy,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

Stingers were placed across the highway on the northern side of Crawford – which punctured all four tyres on the vehicle.<\/p>\n

However, the vehicle continued on flat tyres until it turned into Crawford.<\/p>\n

“He stopped and was taken into custody,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

“A decision to deploy stingers is not taken lightly and the decision is made by a senior police officer who gives consideration to the vehicle and the driver, the volume of traffic flow, the location and the safety of other road users.”<\/p>\n

A 17-year-old Proston man has been charged with driving as an unaccompanied learner, failing to display “L” plates, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, evading police and drink-driving.<\/p>\n

Police will allege he had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.166 when his legal limit was zero.<\/p>\n

Queensland’s road toll currently stands at 80 … 14 more than at the same time last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During April, 31 people died in 30 days.<\/p>\n

A driver allegedly admitted to police that he had fallen asleep at the wheel before his car left the road and rolled on the Booie-Crawford Road at 12:30am last Tuesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 22-year-old man has been issued with a ticket for failing to have proper control of his vehicle.<\/p>\n

The man’s Toyota sedan left the road, went down a small embankment and hit a power pole, pushing the rear of the vehicle into a tree.<\/p>\n

An ambulance crew attended the scene but the man was not badly hurt and was driven home by police.<\/p>\n

Police stopped and searched a car in Murray Parade, Kingaroy, at 1:00pm on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The vehicle was being driven by a 36-year-old Cherbourg woman.<\/p>\n

Police will allege they found a small amount of methamphetamine on the woman.<\/p>\n

She was arrested, taken into custody and charged with possessing dangerous drugs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
