The Cherbourg Junior Police Rangers were having fun at the PCYC hall in Murgon when a nearby TV sounded the Last Post on Anzac Day eve.<\/p>\n

The group, made up of students from St Joseph\u2019s Primary School in Murgon and St Mary\u2019s South Burnett Catholic College in Kingaroy, came to a sudden halt.<\/p>\n

They all stood silently until the bugle halted its chilling call.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat indicated what we\u2019d taught them and what they\u2019d learned at school enabled the children to understand how important Anzac Day is,\u201d Cherbourg Police Rangers co-ordinator Louise Thompson said.<\/p>\n

The next day the children were up at 4:00am to attend the Murgon dawn service.<\/p>\n

They then grabbed brekkie at the Ration Shed Museum in Cherbourg and marched with veterans to the new Boys from Barambah War Memorial.<\/p>\n

About 200 people were there for its morning service and as the names of Cherbourg\u2019s fallen were read, the rangers placed a cross for each one in a box.<\/p>\n

Louise said the community should be proud of the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey really blew me away during the whole weekend,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
