Football Queensland CEO Geoff Foster dropped a bombshell at the Kingaroy Junior Soccer Club’s Presentation Afternoon on Saturday … he revealed that club president Tracey Tunstall<\/strong> is the 2012 Football Queensland Volunteer of the Year.<\/p>\n

Mr Foster said the judging for the awards had only taken place the night before and had not yet been officially announced.<\/p>\n

This was the second shock for “Mrs T” during the afternoon … earlier it was announced by South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann that the new Clubhouse (officially opened by Mr Foster and Club patron Cr Damien Tessmann) would be named the “Tracey and Andrew Tunstall Clubhouse” \u00a0after Tracey and her husband.<\/p>\n

“There’s no doubt that she’s regarded as the best sports administrator in the South Burnett, and probably in Queensland,” Cr Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

Tracey was also presented with a 20-year service award by Football Queensland South West Zone administrator Janelle Sothmann.<\/p>\n

All this proved a bit much for the junior soccer veteran who was wiping tears from her eyes as she expressed her thanks for the honour from the club.<\/p>\n

“And the award from Football Queensland is unbelievable. I don’t do this for me, I do it for the kids,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Thank you so much, I am very honoured.”<\/p>\n

The Presentation Afternoon also included a grand parade of all currently registered Redbacks players and presentations to players and sponsors.<\/p>\n

A “celebrity” match between 2012 Cadets players and “Re-enlisted Redbacks” was also played.<\/p>\n

NB. There’s probably more tears ahead this week for Tracey, who is retiring from working at St John’s Lutheran School after 17 years.<\/em><\/p>\n
