These are the lines Brett and his mum Beryl wrote in their 10-page illustrated book:<\/p>\n

My name is Brett. I am in Year Prep at Cherbourg School.<\/p>\n

My mummy tells me that I am strong and smart because I go to school every day.<\/p>\n

I go to school every day because I want to drive BIG trucks when I grow up.<\/p>\n

At school my teachers teach me lots of things like my ABCs and numbers.<\/p>\n

I like reading books.<\/p>\n

My mummy reads to me and my brother and sister.<\/p>\n

I learn lots of stuff from reading books.<\/p>\n

So, everyone read books because BOOKS ARE GREAT.<\/p>\n

It looks like Brett Watcho-Page has had a career change at the age of 5.<\/p>\n

The Cherbourg State School student wanted to be a truck driver but now wants to become an author after being paid for his first book.<\/p>\n

The pay packet came in the form of a $50 Murgon newsagent voucher after Brett entered the UsMob Radio -Barambah PaCE “I Dream” competition.<\/p>\n

This involved people, preferably parents and their children, working on a book, poem, song that would reflect on why school was so important to people striving to achieve their goals.<\/p>\n

The Prep student sat with mum Beryl over a few nights and wrote about how he loved to read and going to school so he could become a truck driver.<\/p>\n

“He hasn\u2019t missed a day all year,” Beryl said of her son\u2019s classroom attendance.<\/p>\n

She encourages him because reading has opened her eyes to big world and allowed her to learn.<\/p>\n

She also knows education is vital for her child to fulfil his dreams.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want Brett to have the same love of reading so he can go out there and get a great job he loves doing and lead a happy life,\u201d Ms Watcho said.<\/p>\n
