Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has been taking South Burnett peanuts with her as she visits farmers as part of her role as Shadow Minister for Agriculture.<\/p>\n

She says the small gifts of peanuts have helped create a connection between the drought-affected primary producers and farmers in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington recently visited some of Queensland’s worst droughted areas with Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really wanted to take something with me as a small token when I visited the farming families around Longreach,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFresh, delicious peanuts from the South Burnett were the obvious choice and it was lovely to give these small gifts and help create a connection between primary producers from two distinct regions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important our western cousins know we haven\u2019t forgotten them.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“With so much of the State still in drought, these people are facing enormous hardships that won\u2019t go away anytime soon.”<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said she would be calling on the State Government to do all it can to help them, and she would encourage anyone thinking of a holiday to visit outback Queensland.<\/p>\n

“This type of support will keep these small towns going through what really is a terrible crisis,” she said.<\/p>\n
